Great Siding and Window Repairs Begin at Northeast Exteriors

Siding Companies in Patchogue, NY

Have you ever taken a moment to evaluate the exterior of your home? A quick look reveals several features, each with its own important function. Your roof protects your family from falling branches and extreme temperatures, while your gutters direct water off the roof and away from your home. But how often do you consider your windows and siding?

The siding on your house is essential for protecting both you and your home from outdoor elements and harsh weather conditions. One of its main functions is to prevent leaks and stop water from seeping into your property, which can lead to mildew and mold growth. Additionally, siding helps insulate your house, potentially saving you money on energy bills.

Windows are just as important as siding. They allow natural light to brighten up dull spaces, help regulate indoor temperatures, and play a key role in transforming a house into a home. Both windows and siding contribute to the aesthetic appeal and functionality of your home, which is why it's crucial to find a trusted, licensed contractor who specializes in window and siding repair in Nassau County. Unfortunately, sifting through Google to find siding companies in Patchogue, NY, can be a chore in and of itself. Luckily, Northeast Exteriors is here to provide the home services you need at prices you can afford.

Causes of Your Siding Damage

Siding damage can result from several factors, making it essential to identify the root cause for effective repairs. Common causes include severe weather—like hail, wind, or heavy rain—which can create dents, cracks, or dislodge the siding. Poor installation may lead to gaps and weak attachment, while aging siding can become brittle and more prone to damage. Pests can also compromise siding integrity. Top 3 Signs It's Time for New Siding Installation

If you're a homeowner on Long Island, you might be questioning if it's time to replace your property's siding. Generally speaking, if your siding has been in place for over 20 years, it's likely time for a new installation. But what other indicators should you look out for?

 Home Improvement Patchogue, NY
01

Warping and Bulging

It's essential to evaluate your cladding from various perspectives, as there may be instances where visible holes or gaps aren't present, yet the cladding can still become warped. This could manifest as certain areas bulging outward or cupping inward, signaling that there may be underlying issues. Typically, this points to moisture damage that should be addressed without delay.

02

Expensive Utility Bills

If you get an energy bill higher than the tallest monument near Patchogue, NY, consider it a red flag. If you notice cold drafts around your walls, windows, light switches, or electrical outlets, it may indicate that your siding is damaged, leading to increased energy costs. It's a good idea to consult a professional siding contractor to pinpoint the issue. If the problem is linked to your cladding, upgrading to energy-efficient insulated vinyl siding could result in significant savings over time.

03

Cracks, Gaps, and More

Cracks, gaps, or holes in your cladding can lead to significant issues by allowing water to enter your walls, causing problems like rot, mold, and mildew. Repairing this damage is often costly, leading many homeowners to opt for new siding instead. Beyond compromising your home's structural integrity, these gaps can also invite pests like rats and termites, posing further risks to your home and health.

Revitalize Your Home with Quality Window Repair

Often, these problems arise when windows deteriorate and require replacement. While hearing that you need to replace your windows can be daunting, it's a necessary step for many homeowners on Long Island. That's where Northeast Exteriors steps in.

If you observe any of the signs below, it's a good idea to reach out to Northeast Exteriors for assistance.

Broken Windowpanes

It doesn't take a graduate from the largest university near Patchogue, NY, to know that if your windows are broken, they need to be replaced. The good news? Occasionally, our window contractors can replace your glass while leaving your sashes and frames on, which can save you money.

Leaky Frames

Moisture leaks around windows are often the result of aging wood frames that have gradually deteriorated over time. Signs of issues can typically be seen on the drywall or flooring beneath a leaking window, or by noticing rotting wood on the interior or exterior trim.

 Siding Repair Patchogue, NY

Single-Pane Pain Points

Single-pane windows are recognized for their inefficiency as they allow a significant amount of heat to escape. By upgrading to insulated, low-e windows, you can significantly lower your energy costs.

 Home Exterior Renovation Patchogue, NY

Fogging

Foggy dual-pane windows arise when the seal around the edges of the windowpane fails. This breakdown lets air in, resulting in condensation and a cloudy look. Not only does this hinder your view, but it also signifies a loss of insulation, which can reduce the window's energy efficiency.

The Premier Choice for Roof Repair in Patchogue, NY

Siding and repair projects often go hand-in-hand with roofing projects, which is why roofing companies in Patchogue, NY like Northeast Exteriors also provide roof repair and installation services.

Why Should You Consider Roof Repairs for Your Home on Long Island?

A robust and reliable roof serves as your home's primary shield against harsh weather and falling debris. With regular maintenance, a roof can endure for many years. However, there will come a time when repairs are necessary to extend its life, or it may be time to consider a complete replacement. Installing a new roof not only enhances protection but can also boost your home's perceived curb appeal by up to 40%, adding beauty and potentially increasing its resale value.

Roof Repair Red Flags

Inspections are best for spotting signs of disrepair, but you can also use your eyes, ears, and nose to spot issues with your roofing system. Keep these red flags in mind the next time you're walking around your yard.

01

Buckling and Curling

Examine the roof slope on the side of your house that gets direct sunlight. If you notice that the shingles are curling or buckling, it may indicate that they have exceeded their lifespan. This could also suggest that they were faulty from the beginning. A qualified roofing contractor can help you determine the root of the issue.

02

Broken Shingles

Although shingles are generally designed for durability, they will eventually deteriorate over time. Several factors can speed up this process. For example, inadequate ventilation on your roof can lead to cracks in the shingles, causing them to wear out much more quickly.

03

Dark Streaks and Algae

Algae are present in the air around us, and, if allowed to settle on your roof, can create unsightly dark streaks. Not only is this visually unappealing, but it can also be detrimental to your shingles. In addition to algae, you may also notice moss, particularly on roof areas that don't receive as much direct sunlight.

Moss not only detracts from your roof's appearance but also indicates more serious issues. It holds moisture close to the roof surface, which can damage the shingle granules. While you might consider removing the moss yourself, doing so could potentially harm your roof. If you observe a significant amount of moss, it's wise to reach out to a professional roofing contractor for assistance.

From Quito to Queens — and maybe soon to Patchogue.

A new kind of ice cream shop that’s quickly become all the rage in Ecuador is in the works for downtown Patchogue.

Wen Wen “Leslie” Gao, 36, of Queens, has applied with the village’s planning board to open Bogati — an Ecuadorian-based ice cream parlor chain that serves its ice cream dishes topped with grated cheese — at 12 South Ocean Ave.

First launched in Ecuador in 2018, Bogati Helados Con Queso (ice cream with cheese) now counts more than 200 locations across the country. Gao, who moved to Queens from China at age 14, secured the master franchise rights for New York state and opened the first U.S. Bogati in May 2024 — in Flushing, Queens.

The young entrepreneur has since opened three more locations in the city and now eyes Patchogue for her fifth.

“This ice cream is different,” Gao explained to Greater Long Island. “Our ice cream is sweet and salty — and it comes with cheese on top.

“At first, people are like, ‘What the heck?’ But after they taste it, they say, ‘Oh, it’s good. It’s really good,’” she added.

The “cheesy” topping is what makes Bogati ice cream stand out — and it’s what has drawn hundreds and hundreds of customers to its grand openings.

The grated, typically mild-flavored cheese is generously strung atop scoops of rich, fruit-flavored or chocolate ice cream, creating a surprising and beloved flavor contrast. The combination became a tradition in Ecuador and is catching fire in New York City.

And Gao believes Patchogue is the perfect next stop.

“We did our marketing and found a lot of Ecuadorian people in Patchogue,” she said. “They told us, ‘Do not open in Queens anymore — we are out here in Patchogue. Please come over!’ So we were invited.”

The proposed storefront, just south of Main Street, has sat vacant since a short-lived video game shop closed there. Before that, it was home to Muñeca Arthouse and Patricio Records.

The location’s landlord, Joel Furman — a longtime Patchogue attorney and local property owner — supports the idea and has helped facilitate the application, which goes before the planning board on Tuesday, April 22. Additionally, Patchogue Mayor Paul Pontieri said he looks forward to learning more about the proposed ice cream shop.

“Patchogue is full of Ecuadorian families,” Gao said. “We are businesspeople, and we want to be where the people are — where we can bring something that people miss from home.”

But Bogati isn’t just for those folks accustomed to its unique blend of flavors. Gao said the shop’s Brooklyn location has shown her that the brand has much wider appeal.

“People from all backgrounds like it and are lining up for it,” she said.

Gao opened her first Bogati location last spring in Flushing, celebrating with a festive grand opening in June. She launched her first Corona shop in August, followed by a second Corona location and a Brooklyn store, both of which opened in March.

Affordable option

Gao also promised the new shop will be an affordable option in comparison to the nearby Ben & Jerry’s.

“And it’s something totally different,” she said. “I think it will be a good fit.”

If approved, the Patchogue shop would be the sixth Bogati in the United States. The only other shop not owned or operated by Gao is in Lowell, Massachusetts, which opened on April 3.

Gao said she will attend the planning board’s public hearing regarding the proposed ice cream shop. It is scheduled for 6 p.m. Tuesday at Village Hall.

Celebrating Earth Day with Action: Protecting Our Watershed One Creek at a Time

This Earth Day, Save The Great South Bay invites you to go beyond celebration and take action to protect the natural treasures in your own backyard. Our Creek Defender Program is at the heart of our mission — a grassroots initiative that empowers local communities to restore and steward the 50 creeks that flow into the Great South Bay.

The Bay's health begins upstream. Polluted runoff, litter, and invasive plants degrade these vital waterways, threatening not only marine life but also our way of life on Long Island. Through cleanups, native planting projects, and educational outreach, Creek Defenders work year-round to turn the tide.

This Earth Day, we’re asking you to become a Creek Defender in your own community. Whether it's joining a cleanup, spreading awareness, or simply being more mindful of what goes down your storm drain, your actions matter.

Let’s honor Earth Day by investing in a cleaner, healthier Great South Bay — for today and for generations to come. Together, we can restore our creeks, protect our Bay, and build a more resilient South Shore.

BROOKHAVEN, NY — A free rabies vaccinations for dogs, cats, and ferrets will be offered on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Brookhaven Animal Shelter on Horseblock Road in Brookhaven.

The clinic is available to all county residents, but the quantity of vaccine is limited and available only while supplies last.

All dogs must be on leashes and all cats and ferrets must be in carriers.

Rabies is a deadly disease caused by a virus that attacks the central nervous system, and is most often seen among wild animals such as raccoons, bats, skunks, and foxes, but any mammal can be infected with it.

Pets and livestock can get rabies if they are not vaccinated to protect them against the infection.

Find out what's happening in Patchoguefor free with the latest updates from Patch.

New York State and Suffolk County laws require all dogs, cats, and ferrets be vaccinated against the virus.

Vaccinating pets not only provides protection for them, but also acts as a barrier to keep the rabies virus from spreading between wild animals and people, as three to six percent of the bats that are tested annually are positive for rabies.

The county's Department of Health Services recommends the following precautions to protect your pets and your family from possible exposure to rabies:

To keep bats from getting into buildings, bat-proofing techniques should include:

Report all animal bites or contact with wild animals to the Department of Health Services at 631-854-0333 weekdays, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Animal bites or contact with wild animals can be reported to the Department at 631-852-4820 outside normal business hours. If possible, try to contain the animal so that it can be tested.
