Great Siding and Window Repairs Begin at Northeast Exteriors

Siding Companies in Levittown, NY

Have you ever taken a moment to evaluate the exterior of your home? A quick look reveals several features, each with its own important function. Your roof protects your family from falling branches and extreme temperatures, while your gutters direct water off the roof and away from your home. But how often do you consider your windows and siding?

The siding on your house is essential for protecting both you and your home from outdoor elements and harsh weather conditions. One of its main functions is to prevent leaks and stop water from seeping into your property, which can lead to mildew and mold growth. Additionally, siding helps insulate your house, potentially saving you money on energy bills.

Windows are just as important as siding. They allow natural light to brighten up dull spaces, help regulate indoor temperatures, and play a key role in transforming a house into a home. Both windows and siding contribute to the aesthetic appeal and functionality of your home, which is why it's crucial to find a trusted, licensed contractor who specializes in window and siding repair in Nassau County. Unfortunately, sifting through Google to find siding companies in Levittown, NY, can be a chore in and of itself. Causes of Your Siding Damage

Siding damage can result from several factors, making it essential to identify the root cause for effective repairs. Common causes include severe weather—like hail, wind, or heavy rain—which can create dents, cracks, or dislodge the siding. Poor installation may lead to gaps and weak attachment, while aging siding can become brittle and more prone to damage. Pests can also compromise siding integrity. By recognizing the cause of your siding damage, we can quickly address the issue and implement measures to prevent future repairs.

Water damage can also wreak havoc on your siding, leading to further complications. Water damage can also cause hazardous mold and allergens to proliferate. These scenarios can leave sensitive individuals at risk and may even result in a trip to Village Green Senior Living near Levittown, NY. Top 3 Signs It's Time for New Siding Installation

If you're a homeowner on Long Island, you might be questioning if it's time to replace your property's siding. Generally speaking, if your siding has been in place for over 20 years, it's likely time for a new installation. But what other indicators should you look out for?

 Home Improvement Levittown, NY
01

Warping and Bulging

It's essential to evaluate your cladding from various perspectives, as there may be instances where visible holes or gaps aren't present, yet the cladding can still become warped. This could manifest as certain areas bulging outward or cupping inward, signaling that there may be underlying issues. Typically, this points to moisture damage that should be addressed without delay.

02

Expensive Utility Bills

If you get an energy bill higher than Friends of Bolton Mansion near Levittown, NY, consider it a red flag. If you notice cold drafts around your walls, windows, light switches, or electrical outlets, it may indicate that your siding is damaged, leading to increased energy costs. It's a good idea to consult a professional siding contractor to pinpoint the issue. If the problem is linked to your cladding, upgrading to energy-efficient insulated vinyl siding could result in significant savings over time.

03

Cracks, Gaps, and More

Cracks, gaps, or holes in your cladding can lead to significant issues by allowing water to enter your walls, causing problems like rot, mold, and mildew. Repairing this damage is often costly, leading many homeowners to opt for new siding instead. Beyond compromising your home's structural integrity, these gaps can also invite pests like rats and termites, posing further risks to your home and health.

Revitalize Your Home with Quality Window Repair

When It's Time for Window Installation, Call Northeast Exteriors

Did you know that any gap or break in your siding can lead to long-term issues such as moisture buildup, air drafts, and unwanted heat transfer? Often, these problems arise when windows deteriorate and require replacement. While hearing that you need to replace your windows can be daunting, it's a necessary step for many homeowners on Long Island. That's where Northeast Exteriors steps in.

Telltale Signs Your Windows Need Replacing

A frequent question we receive from clients is whether they should replace their windows. It's difficult to provide a definitive answer without inspecting the windows in person. However, there are several noticeable indicators that can help you determine if a replacement is necessary. If you observe any of the signs below, it's a good idea to reach out to Northeast Exteriors for assistance.

Broken Windowpanes

It doesn't take a graduate from Hunter Business School Levittown Campus near Levittown, NY, to know that if your windows are broken, they need to be replaced. The good news? Occasionally, our window contractors can replace your glass while leaving your sashes and frames on, which can save you money.

Leaky Frames

Moisture leaks around windows are often the result of aging wood frames that have gradually deteriorated over time. Signs of issues can typically be seen on the drywall or flooring beneath a leaking window, or by noticing rotting wood on the interior or exterior trim.

 Siding Repair Levittown, NY

Single-Pane Pain Points

Single-pane windows are recognized for their inefficiency as they allow a significant amount of heat to escape. By upgrading to insulated, low-e windows, you can significantly lower your energy costs.

 Home Exterior Renovation Levittown, NY

Fogging

Foggy dual-pane windows arise when the seal around the edges of the windowpane fails. This breakdown lets air in, resulting in condensation and a cloudy look. Not only does this hinder your view, but it also signifies a loss of insulation, which can reduce the window's energy efficiency.

The Premier Choice for Roof Repair in Levittown, NY

Siding and repair projects often go hand-in-hand with roofing projects, which is why roofing companies in Levittown, NY like Northeast Exteriors also provide roof repair and installation services.

Why Should You Consider Roof Repairs for Your Home on Long Island?

A robust and reliable roof serves as your home's primary shield against harsh weather and falling debris. With regular maintenance, a roof can endure for many years. However, there will come a time when repairs are necessary to extend its life, or it may be time to consider a complete replacement. Installing a new roof not only enhances protection but can also boost your home's perceived curb appeal by up to 40%, adding beauty and potentially increasing its resale value.

Roof Repair Red Flags

Inspections are best for spotting signs of disrepair, but you can also use your eyes, ears, and nose to spot issues with your roofing system. Keep these red flags in mind the next time you're walking around your yard.

01

Buckling and Curling

Examine the roof slope on the side of your house that gets direct sunlight. If you notice that the shingles are curling or buckling, it may indicate that they have exceeded their lifespan. This could also suggest that they were faulty from the beginning. A qualified roofing contractor can help you determine the root of the issue.

02

Broken Shingles

Although shingles are generally designed for durability, they will eventually deteriorate over time. Several factors can speed up this process. For example, inadequate ventilation on your roof can lead to cracks in the shingles, causing them to wear out much more quickly.

03

Dark Streaks and Algae

Algae are present in the air around us, and, if allowed to settle on your roof, can create unsightly dark streaks. Not only is this visually unappealing, but it can also be detrimental to your shingles. In addition to algae, you may also notice moss, particularly on roof areas that don't receive as much direct sunlight.

Moss not only detracts from your roof's appearance but also indicates more serious issues. It holds moisture close to the roof surface, which can damage the shingle granules. While you might consider removing the moss yourself, doing so could potentially harm your roof. If you observe a significant amount of moss, it's wise to reach out to a professional roofing contractor for assistance.

LONG ISLAND, NY. — Public Service Enterprise Group received contract approval from the New York comptroller Tuesday, clearing the way for its agreement with the Long Island Power Authority that will allow PSEG to operate Long Island and The Rockaways’ power grid through 2030.

The new contract will kick in Jan. 1, while interim president David Lyons will be retiring in the new year. Replacing Lyons as president and COO of PSEG Long Island will be Scott Jennings, taking office Jan. 5.

Jennings most recently served as senior vice president of finance, planning and strategy at PSEG, with 27 years of experience in the organization. In addition to renewing its partnership with LIPA, the contract will continue the working relationship between PSEG and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 1049.

"I am thrilled to be joining PSEG Long Island as it enters this new chapter. "I look forward to making strategic investments across the organization to deliver a reliable, resilient electric grid while enhancing the customer experience and maintaining affordability."

From the IBEW side, the changing of the guard was a chance to thank Lyons for his time as interim president.

"We thank David Lyons for his leadership and service to PSEG Long Island and for his work with the workforce during his tenure," Pat Guidice, business manager of IBEW Local 1049, said. "We appreciate the opportunity to have worked with him and wish him well in his next steps. We also congratulate Scott Jennings on his appointment as president and COO and look forward to working with him in his new role."

LEVITTOWN, NY. — The Levittown Board of Education celebrated the talent of its students and the achievement of one of its schools Dec. 10, as the school board heard performances from the MacArthur High School Wind Ensemble and commemorated Wisdom Lane Middle School for being named a 2025 School of Distinction.

The wind ensemble opened the meeting, performing holiday classics like “Deck The Halls,” “Jingle Bells” and “Winter Wonderland” under the direction of Joseph Romano. During “Jingle Bells,” the ensemble invited meeting attendees to jingle their keys and become part of the ensemble.

The school of distinction award is conferred to just 24 schools nationwide by the Association for Middle Level Education, a national organization that seeks to help middle school educators, “reach every student, grow professionally, and create great schools.” The distinction gave Wisdom Lane staff members the opportunity to present at a national conference in November among other middle school educators to highlight what they did to earn the title. At the Dec. 10 meeting, superintendent Todd Winch presented teachers, faculty, students and parents with certificates, commemorating their contributions to earning this award.

“These 24 schools exemplify what’s possible when educators prioritize the unique needs of young adolescents,” AMLE CEO Stephanie Simpson said when announcing the awards in August. “The Schools of Distinction program not only celebrates their achievements but also fosters a collaborative network where schools learn from and inspire one another.”

Winch thanked Wisdom Lane Assistant Principal Craig Arvelo-Shaw and district Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction Dr. Beth Zirogiannis for being particularly important to the effort that led to the award for Wisdom Lane.

See what titles are leaving Levittown’s school libraries this winter.

The obsolete titles will be discarded or, where possible, donated, or sold at the highest possible salvage value, district documents said. The motion to discard the books passed without opposition at the meeting.

Leading the line in book discards is Division Avenue High School, from which 525 books will be disposed across two separate obsolete excess book lists. Included in the list of books discarded from Division Ave. are topics from Tai Chi to Thomas Edison, with books across the district being discarded for concerns including broken bindings, outdated material and pages ripped beyond repair.

Not far behind Division Ave. is Salk Middle School, which is discarding 445 titles including three titles from the “Artemis Fowl” series, six “ From The Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler” books and 76 copies of Gordon Korman’s “Restart,” each described as having broken bindings. That 76-copy tally makes “Restart” the most-discarded book in the district.

Salk was also the only school with an obsolete book form that listed the price of the discarded books. The most expensive? A four-volume set of Barry Max Brandenberger’s “Mathematics,” with a listed value of $459.96. After the math textbook, the next-highest prices were “Real-Life Math,” volumes 1 and 2, discarded with a cost of $184.96, and “Environment: An Illustrated Guide To Science,” which cost $49.50.”

Bringing up the rear are Levittown’s elementary schools, with 77 books declared obsolete at East Broadway, 37 at Lee Road and 22 at Summit Lane.

The oldest title being discarded this December is Elizabeth George Speare’s “The witch of Blackbird Pond,” published in 1958. That title is followed closely by P.D. Eastman’s 1960 book “Are You My Mother?” The newest title being discarded? That honor goes to Dav Pilkey’s 2024 title, “Dog Man. The Scarlet Shredder,” one copy of which has pages damaged beyond repair while another has a broken binding. Pilkey’s books are followed by Martin Hanford’s 2023 edition of “Where’s Waldo?” which also has irreparably damaged pages, district officials said.

The full, itemized list of discarded books can be found under item 6.16 on the agenda for the board of education’s Dec. 10 meeting.
